Purpose
This membership level designated "Fellow of the Society" is to recognize members who
have made sustained and outstanding technical contributions in areas of interest to AVS.
Eligibility
The nominee must have made sustained and outstanding scientific and technical
contributions in research, engineering, technical advancement, academic education,
or managerial leadership for at least ten (10) years. In addition, five (5) years
consecutive AVS membership is required. This is a prestigious membership level
to which members are elected; therefore the membership percentage cannot exceed
0.5% in any calendar year.
The candidate for Fellow, the nominating sponsor and the three sponsors
MUST
BE CURRENT AVS MEMBERS. A member may nominate only one person
for Fellow for each annual submission deadline. Current members of the Board of
Directors and the Awards Committee are not eligible for
election. A
Nomination Form is to be transmitted electronically along with
supporting letters and other material that will help the Committee in the selection process.
The inclusion of quantitative metrics for the evaluation of
technical contributions, such as number of citations and H
factor, are strongly encouraged.
Nature of the Award
The award consists of a certificate.
