Mid-Atlantic STEM Educators Training

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter sponsors one or two teachers every year to attend the Science Educators Workshop (SEW) at the AVS Symposium.  AVS conducts a two-day in-service workshop on low-pressure experiments and modeling for high school science teachers.  Teachers can submit an application online, and if selected by members of the AVS Society, will receive a travel funding, hotel expenses, and registration for the SEW paid by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter. The workshop is accredited for CEU's and is aligned with the national science and mathematics standards.

Additionally, the attendees’s school will receive a vacuum system for their school identical to ones used in the workshop given approval from their school (a school must sign a liability release).

Mid-Atlantic Short Courses

Special training courses may be organized upon request.  Topics can be broad (i.e.: ‘Introduction to Vacuum Equipment’) or narrow (i.e.: ‘Vacuum gauging and measurement’).

If there is an audience for topics of particular interest, Chapter members are encouraged to contact Douglas Baker at DBaker@teledyne.com.
