The ASED runs its own technical program at the annual AVS International Symposium under the Surface Engineering (SE) topic. Most "hot" topics of surface engineering are a prime focus of this program, which, therefore, changes every year reflecting the pulsation of the ASED community's interests. Presently these are: Glancing Angle Deposition, Atmospheric Pressure Plasmas, Pulsed Plasmas in Surface Engineering, Hard and Nanostructured Coatings, Surface Engineering for Thermal Management and Soft Nanostructured Films for Biomedical Applications
