Michael Bagge-Hansen


Michael Bagge-Hansen is a staff scientist researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in applied science with a concentration in surface physics from the College of William and Mary in 2011 for which he was additionally provided the 2011 Distinguished Dissertation Award in the natural and computational sciences. Michael assembled his first UHV chamber in high school and has since dedicated his career to scientific endeavors that demand careful consideration of the vacuum environment and the associated technologies. In 2008, he received the best student-built vacuum award from the AVS. His current research interests are in the field of soft x-ray materials’ characterization using synchrotron light sources. Michael has authored numerous publications in the fields of surface science and vacuum technology.
