Florida Chapter AVS
Advancing the Science and Technology of Materials, Interfaces, and Processing
As a member-driven, interdisciplinary organization, AVS supports networking among academic, industrial, government, and consulting professionals involved in a variety of disciplines—chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, biology, mathematics, business, sales, etc.—through common interests related to the basic science, technology development, and commercialization of materials, interfaces, and processing.
Members choose AVS not only because it is important to their professional development, but for the networking opportunities it provides, as well as a high level of camaraderie they enjoy at our meetings and events. The interdisciplinary nature of AVS offers the opportunity for very unique collaborations in many different areas of science and technology. In addition, AVS encourages your participation in Society leadership roles, offering easy entry into our committees, divisions, and technical groups.
Individuals obtain membership in the local chapter by joining the national AVS organization. On a national level, AVS provides a number of resources to members. Each year, the AVS International Symposium and Exhibition features more than 1,200 technical papers and draws approximately 3,000 scientists from around the world. AVS National also sponsors several topical conferences that provide in-depth investigation into a particular technique or field. AVS offers journals, books, monographs, short courses, and videos.
The 2019 FLAVS Symposium will be held March 11-12, 2019 in the Engineering II Building at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The Symposium will consist of a plenary lecture, technical sessions with invited and contributed presentations, a poster session including a student poster competition and an equipment exhibit for vendors to display surface analytical, vacuum, microscopy, thin film and microelectronic equipment. This symposium is sponsored by the AVS Florida Chapter (Fl AVS).
The equipment exhibit will take place in the UCF Engineering Atrium, in conjunction with the poster session, reception and coffee breaks.
The reception will be held on Monday evening, March 11th, from 5:307:00 p.m. for all symposium participants and attendees..
There is NO REGISTRATION FEE for the meeting thanks to the support of our vendors and sponsors from colleges and industry.
Registration includes daily coffee breaks, poster session refreshments, reception and a symposium booklet.
A Door Prize Drawing ($100) will be held on Tuesday, March 12th in the Exhibitor Hall. All registered symposium attendees will be eligible to register for the drawing. Participants will need to turn in a 10 vendor signature page to qualify for the drawing.
