Quantum Science and Technology Mini-Symposium Student Awards
The Quantum Science and Technology (QS) Mini-Symposium is pleased to announce the QS Student Awards at AVS 72. These awards recognize outstanding student contributions to quantum science and technology and celebrate emerging researchers advancing the field. The QS program spans a broad range of cutting-edge topics, from quantum materials and surfaces/interfaces to device integration and diverse qubit modalities for computing and sensing.
Award Categories
Best Oral Presentation: Awarded to the student delivering the most compelling, clearly articulated, and technically strong talk.
Best Poster Presentation: Awarded to the student presenting the most informative, visually engaging, and impactful poster.
Eligibility
To be eligible, participants must:
Be enrolled as a full-time student, and
Be the presenting author of an accepted abstract in the QS Mini-Symposium.
Submissions are welcome from diverse areas, including (but not limited to):
Materials and surface/interface engineering for quantum devices
Qubit modalities and coherence/scaling challenges
Quantum sensing and quantum-enhanced metrology
Device integration and cryogenic packaging
Quantum simulation and modeling for materials and processes
Workforce development, education, and enabling infrastructure
Interdisciplinary quantum applications
How to Apply
Submit an abstract to the QS Mini-Symposium at AVS 72 and indicate student status during submission.
Judging Criteria
Finalists will be determined based on abstract review. Award decisions will be based on:
Scientific merit and originality
Clarity and quality of communication
Relevance to quantum science and technology
Quality of the oral/poster presentation at the meeting
Presentations will be judged by members of the QS Committee.
Prizes
First Prize: $250
Second Prize: $150
Third Prize: $100
Winners will also receive a certificate of recognition.
Sponsorship and Acknowledgments
We gratefully acknowledge the support of AVS Publications and AVS Quantum Science for sponsoring these awards and supporting the next generation of quantum researchers.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: May 18, 2026
We look forward to your submission.
